Rome

Rome, the capital city of Italy, is a breathtaking and historic destination located in central Italy. It is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and world-famous cuisine, making it a top destination for travelers seeking a unique and unforgettable vacation. If you're a history buff and lover of art, architecture and beauty - we've pretty much described very travel geek! - Roma is romantic and timeless and never-to-be-forgotten. In between your fifth or seventh serving of gelato and pasta at the homely tabernas, spend your time getting to know the friendly locals who lead exotic lives rich in tradition and religion. Rome's nightlife is also worth exploring, with a wide range of bars, clubs, and music venues offering live music, dancing, and entertainment.

Tipping.

Restaurants and bars- If you want to tip in a restaurant, you don't need to tip anything more than 10 percent of the check. In bars, it's not uncommon to leave behind your extra change if you're standing at the bar.

Taxi- Tipping certainly isn't expected from the drivers but if you feel like you had exceptional service you may want to give a little something, but never over about five per cent of the fare.

Hotels- In hotels, you can tip housekeepers around €1 a day.

Lingo in Rome.

Unlike other parts of Europe, the English language is not spoken as commonly and at every opportunity, it’s best to at least try to communicate in Italian even if it’s a “grazie” here and a “ciao” there. Also, the dialect of Rome is referred to as romanesco and is probably one of the most notorious for its use of slang.

General lingo.

Buongiorno= Good morning

Salve = A way to say hello, used especially in Rome (it’s Latin!) and, in formality, in between “ciao” and “buongiorno”

Piacere di conoscerti= Pleased to meet you

Come te butta?= How's it going?

Avoja! – Sure! Hell yeah!

Sti cazzi! = I don’t give a sh*t

Eating out/ shopping lingo.

Mi sono perso= I am lost

È Bellissimo= It's beautiful

Posso pagare con la carta di credito?= Do you take credit card?

Abbiocco = Food coma

C ho n’ arsura! = I need a drink

Get your flirt on!

Stai a rosicà?’ / rosicone = Are you jealous, envious?

Mi piaci un sacco = I like you a lot

Come ti chiami? – Veramente? è il mio nome preferito! = What’s your name? – is it really? it’s my favorite name!

Prendiamo un caffè insieme? = Would you like a coffee?

Hai delle labbra così deliziose… Baciami! or Vorrei tanto baciarti! = Your lips are so delicious… Kiss me! or I would really like to kiss you

Transport from Rome Fiumicino Airport.

There are 4 ways to get from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Rome - by train, bus, shuttle or taxi.

Train.

The Leonardo Express is a Trenitalia train connecting Fiumicino airport with the main train station in Rome, Termini. It takes roughly 32 minutes and leaves the airport every half-hour, or every 15 minutes during peak hours. It's non-stop service from the airport to Termini.

Taxi

The airport authorities have set a fixed fare of 48 euro between Fiumicino Airport and destinations in Rome city centre defined as within the Aurelian Walls, (see map further down the page). The taxi fare includes baggage and is for a maximum of four passengers.

Bus.

As an alternative you can catch a bus. If you want to connect with the underground train network (called “metro “ in Italian), choose the COTRAL lines. Stops at Rome city centre include Piazza dei Cinquecento, Tiburtina Station, Cornelia Station, Eur-Magliana Station, Ostia – Piazza Sirio and Ostia – Piazza Stazione.

Shuttle.

The Rome Airport hotel shuttle is an economical door to door alternative to a taxi between Rome Airport and your central Rome hotel. Services such as Terravision provide shuttle bus service fast and non-stop from Rome Fiumicino international airport to Rome Termini Station.
