Tipping.
Restaurants and bars- It is customary to tip 15% to 20% to all waiters.
Taxi- It is customary to tip 15% to 20% to drivers.
Hotels- Bellhops are usually given $2 per bag in luxury hotels, $1 per bag elsewhere. Hotel maids should be tipped $2 per day of your stay. A doorman who hails or helps you into a cab can be tipped $1-$2.

Kid/Son = a caring term used to refer to a close friend
Guap/Cake/Cheese = three different words all used to refer to money

Eating out/ shopping lingo.
Regular coffee = a coffee made with a large helping of cream and sugar
Schmear = A lot of cream cheese
Pie= They’re talking about pizza!
Bodega = A small shop / grocery store where you go to get all your essential items, snacks and morning coffee.

Transport from JKF Airport.
There are 5 ways to get from JKF Airport to Manhattan - by train, bus, taxi, hotel shuttle, and bike.
Taxi.
Hailing a taxi outside of JKF Airport is the easiest way to head into the city. There are plenty of taxis available at any time of the day. They usually charge a flat rate but can be fussy about baggage.
AirTrain or subway transfer.
Both of these options are available within the airport terminals and are both convenient ways to travel, however maybe difficult if there is a lot of baggage.
Private transfer.
Taxi companies provide the opportunity for private transfers depending on the amount of people and baggage, you can find one outside the airport or book prior.
Limo.
If you prefer living up your stay in NYC a limo option is at your fingertips. You will have to prebook your vehicle and prices can vary.
Taxi shuttle.
This is one of the other convenient ways of getting into the city. However you will be sharing with other people and the travel time is unknown depending on stops and traffic, however you will get to know many of the New York streets.
