The ultimate vintage shopping spree

Thrifters and vintage collectors are the type of shoppers that spend a lot of time searching for the perfect place to swipe their cards at. But lucky for them so many cities have loads of shops scattered all over just waiting for those of us who love finding hidden treasure in the worn but timeless pieces of the past. There’s no better time to shop for vintage and antiques than during the autumn season because the crisp weather and faded leaves add the perfect aesthetic to your shopping sprees. Enjoy some fall seasonal lunches or since its October some spiced fruit and mince pies as you comb through store after store. There’s no shortage of flea markets and fashion boutiques selling vintage toys and go-go boots. Go nuts! Lady Gaga and Nicole Richie say vintage is the way to go. Remember when the Duchess of Sussex started shopping archive Dior it sent us all into a frenzy? Can’t argue with that since eco-conscious fashion is making a strong comeback and designer vintage is certainly nothing new to us (we’d love some classic Chanel and Fendi handbag any day). But if you’re actually serious about thrifting you might as well go with the chicest places right? Here’s a couple of suggestions of where to go. WKNDTRP has added the best vintage shops we think you’d love exploring. Don’t plan a fall holiday without this list!

The best vintage fashion

William Vintage (London city guide)

A big name in the vintage fashion scene for sure is William Vintage. It’s one of the only shops in the world that can actually say it dresses the most stylish and elegant women. Its client base includes fashion icons and cult symbols like Victoria Beckham, Meghan Markle and Amal Clooney. Shop the most chic statement jackets, gowns worthy of a night out in Buckingham Palace and incredible pieces from an extensive range of designers - Cristobal Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen included.

Time’s Up Vintage (Copenhagen city guide)

Time’s Up is no usual vintage store. Each piece in this archival collection has been carefully hand-picked to reflect a particular aesthetic to the place as well as taste catering to a certain type of shopper or lover of vintage fashion. According to the owner Jesper Richardy, the shop has seen some of the biggest names in fashion walk into the place - including legendary runway model Naomi Campbell and fashion icon Jane Birkin. Richardy’s taste has always been ahead of its time having caught on to trends long before they became mainstream. Definitely for those of us who want to stand out.

What Goes Around Comes Around (NYC city guide)

This is a cool store that has been around since 1992 and has guaranteed authenticity for their vintage fashion and accessories. The price point may raise a few eyebrows but keep in mind that the vintage collection that have on offer here is really hard to pass up, so many favorites you may not be able to find elsewhere like a well-preserved Hermès Birkin bag. They’ve also got the grunge period stuff like rock tees and jeans. You can maybe grab a pair of vintage Levis off the shelves. But if you’re heart is set on designer vintage, they’ve got everything from Saint Laurent to Gucci to Gaultier.

Vintage Delirium by Franco Jacassi (Milan city guide)

Milan is a shopping paradise and its high fashion streets do not hold back from that retro glam that makes the shopper’s heart and credit card go completely insane. This particular store is somewhat of a muse for the big names in fashion design like fashion houses Armani and Louis Vuitton whose styling teams visit when inspiration is needed. Yves Saint Laurent fan will be in utter bliss when they see the vintage dresses, shirts and belts from the 70s and 80s in an almost untouched condition. There are also a couple of archive pieces from D&G, Pucci and the like that you can rent out.

Coeur de Luxe (Paris city guide)

You’ll find Coeur de Luxe on rue de l’Annonciation and can we just say that this your go-to boutique for the essential Parisian wardrobe chic you’re looking for on your weekend trip in Paris. You get to play dress up for dinner or else strutting your stuff in the Parisian streets at lunch time. They basically rack up classic staples true to the Paris fashion scene with clothes, designer handbags and accessories in mint condition from lush names like Giambattista Valli, Missoni, Miu Miu, Chanel and Christophe Josse.

Amore Vintage (Tokyo city guide)

This is Tokyo’s spot for luxury vintage items. New-age fashion divas are known for shopping here from time to time when they hit up Tokyo over the holidays. Kim K, Hailey Bieber and Alexa Chung are a few that come to mind. But it’s not just the glitzy clients. The store takes pride in keeping the fashion items and accessories in pristine condition. So the Hermès, Gucci, Fendi and Ferragamo you bought the other will always be a steal and also possibly one of the last ones available in that color and condition. Some shoppers joke that it is a “shrine to Chanel”. They’d be right about that.
