A romantic weekend in Dubai

Any couple dreams of taking that special vacation with their significant other at some point in their lifetime. Maybe that vacation turns into an exciting trip every year but whatever the case is, they will usually pick the most happening and romantic destination. We like Dubai. Some of the best views in the world is from the top of Dubai’s skyscraper Burj Khalifa after all, second only to UK’s tourist attraction London Eye. But Dubai is a really good choice for a romantic weekend abroad not simply because of its spectacular infrastructure, sophisticated lifestyle and bubbling culture. It commands a certain respect also for being a popular honeymoon, wedding and even proposal destination. Why? Because there are endless things for couples to do in the backdrop of a beautiful and fast-paced world from gorgeous sunsets from an effortlessly trendy rooftop bar, exclusive dinner cruises, desert safaris and so much more. Dubai brings the heat and the passion for that romantic escape you’re looking for and shows us what it really means to be world-class.

Weekend Trip has made a list of the best hotels, eateries, watering holes, activities and shopping in Dubai - famously known as “Sin City”. But just between us, it’s not a sin if you’re having a fun weekend (wink).

The best hotels in Dubai

The Address, Dubai Marina

This is definitely right up there on the more glamorous stays in Dubai and the price point reflects the luxurious setting. We’d say the experience is fully worth your while if you’d like to see how the upper society tastes Dubai, especially for the location in the city’s most chic neighborhoods and the ambience overlooking the Dubai Marine where luxury yachts dock at trendy restaurants. Take in the lights from the waters, moored vessels and skyscrape visible in the distance. The rooms are spectacular to say the least.

Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah

Dubai hospitality at its finest. Waldorf Astoria is the epitome of warm and friendly service coupled with the stunning ambience, amenities and stylish location at the iconic Palm Jumeirah. This tree-shaped island is popular for its A-list hotels, trendy gastronomy and of course the hippest and most sophisticated hotels and resorts. Another cool part about the resort is that guests can soak up the sun on its private beach and enjoy a plethora of fun and energy-packed beach and water activities.

Nobu Restaurant

Asian fusion kitchen with a killer tasting menu, sushi bar and sake lounge. The Nobu restaurant chain is known worldwide for its exceptional gastronomy, varied cuisines and celebrated chefs cooking up a storm at its several locations around the world. And of course there’s the fascinating bit about of the fact that Robert Niro is a key investor in the entire project. So it seems like a no-brainer that when you are in Dubai, your safe bet for world-class food has got to be this sleek Japanese restaurant.

Buddha Bar

Mouthwatering Pan-Asian flavors are the name of the game at this vibrant night eats spot in Dubai (with controversial Buddha décor but most seem to love the aesthetic). Buddha bar is tucked inside the luxurious Grosvenor House and offers a mix of tastes on the palate for the hungry and naughty traveler. The sushi is fresh and delicious and you cannot miss out on their famous lobster dumplings. The place sees a lot of performances from DJs, percussionists and electrifying acts you wouldn’t expect at a sit-down dinner. The cocktails are superb, crafter by expert mixologists (the Far East Julep is a must-try).

The best things to do in Dubai

Souk Madinat Jumeirah on Al Sufouh Road is your go-to marketplace for that typical Gulf bazaar trip. Shop spices, slippers, handcrafter jewelry and other rare and ornate objects like carved wood, lanterns etc. You will feel like you’re in a James Bond film. It’s definitely a place where the Middle Eastern charm and traditional culture comes out and the perfect way to spend a day out in the city in between trips to the many megamalls and skyscraper city.

Visiting Burj Khalifa should be on anyone’s itinerary really. It is the world’s tallest building. Every visitor to this cultural and world-famous landmark says that it is a must-visit for any traveler in Dubai city and the most honored place to visit. Inside this grand tower is a world of glamour, style and extravagance of excessive levels - something that Dubai is known for.
