In Vegas for the weekend

Just the mention of Vegas has your mind playing a Netflix special with the High Roller Ferris Wheel, Eiffel Tower, soft chink of the slot machines, blinding city lights, the whole deal. Where else in the world can you camp at the Grand Canyon before taking a helicopter back to your fancy hotel room and spending the rest of the night at the Roulette table? Vegas, nicknamed Sin City, has always had a fun personality and these days, there are even more reasons to visit.

Covid numbers have been looking good so the city has been easing the pandemic restrictions. But a couple of rules are going to obviously stick. First thing would be to mask up and follow all safety guidelines when outdoors. The city is slowly revving up for the next big tourist draw which is Memorial Day Weekend, and the events lined up look super exciting as usual. A good time to book would be right now.

Here’s my guide to getting the most out of your weekend WKNDTRP style! My top picks are:

Andiamo Steakhouse

Casino nights in Vegas usually end up at a steakhouse somewhere and depending on your gambling luck, it just might be at one of the best joints in Downtown Vegas. Andiamo is famous not just for its 32-ounce long-bone tomahawk and amazing authentic Italian food, but also its chilled out ambience.

Hakkasan

A dream-come-true for lovers of modern Cantonese cuisine. If you’re there, it’s a no-brainer to try the house favorites like the Roasted Silver Cod with Champagne and Honey. At the Vegas location, the restaurant is actually on another floor from its pulsating nightclub so you can enjoy a quiet dinner before that late night of non-stop partying.

Tao

Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without its nightlife. After a good amount of cocktails at the bars, your next stop is and should be Tao. This award-winning mega club comes with a monster dance floor and that classic Buddha decor. Catch the hottest open-format DJs, voyeur models, and celebrity appearances from Madonna and Kim K to Jamie Foxx.

Nobu Hotel

Okay so The Strip has its rowdy charm. But how do you get some quality shuteye, especially when you have a wild day planned? Nobu has all your favourite luxury amenities from sprawling bathrooms to pampered room service. Don’t hold back when you see their breakfast selection. It’s Vegas after all.

The Venetian

The Venetian is still another luxury hotel with just one catch. It’s also the city of Venice brought to Vegas. It has every detail down like the gilding and marble and the Gondola rides along the Grand Canal. But the dead Vegas giveaway is the row of high fashion stores right around the corner.

As of right now, the doors of Vegas seem to be flung open for visitors. The best recommendation would be to plan your trip so you can stay as safe as possible while enjoying all this action-packed city has to offer. And don't forget! - what happens in Vegas… ;)
