How WKNDTRP selects its venues for the app.

With over 50 getaways from across the globe, the WKNDTRP app prides itself in being the online travel app that acts as a city guide, trip itinerary builder and concierge app. The app displays 5 main categories that are necessary for any traveller when they choose to pick a holiday destination. They are Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Shops and the main one things to do. The selection process uses multiple sources which are then curated by professionals, enriched by AI and verified by Google. So lets get into it

Hotels

Where you choose to stay makes up a big portion about how you getaway will be. So that’s why WKNDTRP only adds in Hotels that are 3 star and upwards. All Hotels are cross- verified against the 3 main online booking platforms which are Booking.com, Expedia and Hotels.com. Each venue card will display the rating from each of these platforms along with the Google rating so you are able to make an informed decision. Hotels are further tagged depending on if they are suitable for families, business travellers the geographical location and any other information that maybe required. A description along with contact info is displayed for you connivence and of course last but not least, every venue card provides access of the Hotel’s Instagram account to ensure you get a peak of where you might be staying. Some of the our sources include Mr & Mrs Smith, The Telegraph and Conde Nast Traveler in order to obtain a comprehensive list of the best hotels in each city.

Restaurants

The culinary experience while on holiday should always be elite, and no we don’t mean you should only stick to the Michelin Star restaurants or the World’s Best Restaurants. Although they are all available on the app along with the year it was awarded to the establishment, we take pride in the street food of Kuala Lumpur and the best Burger joints in New York. Each restaurant on the app has been selected with a purpose, while some of them provide fine dining and open lay out cooking stations others take on more a cafe on the cobblestone street vibe. The point is each city has its fair share of restaurants that fit any criteria you might want to have. The tags provide additional help on the style, cusisine and appearance of the restaurants so you can plan accordingly. Further sub filters include if they are open for brunch, lunch, dinner or the after hours that is a God sent when building your itinerary. Check out the Instagram accounts of each restaurant or view them on the map view so you have a better understanding of where they are in the city.

Drink

Whether you wish to dance the night away or sip a smooth cocktail overlooking the city’s skyline, the drink section of the app caters to all your needs. Here you will find a wide selection of bars, clubs and pubs that each provide its own unique vibe. Each of the drink venues added to the app have also been selected from the World’s 50 Best Bars, Conde Nast Traveler and even personal travel blogs of travellers who can vouch for the venue. Similarly to the restaurants here too you can find sub filters such as day, night or late night that will show you what time different bars will be open. The uber facility from the app comes in handy when you need a late night ride back to your hotel after an action packed evening. The ‘Make reservation’ button on each venue card directs you to the booking page of each venue for convenience and quick reservation time. Here too you can view the Instagram accounts to take a look what the vibe, style and signature cocktails before you make a reservation.

Shops

Each person has their own kind of shopping that excites them, for some it is browsing through a shopping mall taking in all the sights and options. For others it could be walking into every antique store looking for that perfect item to take back home. So in order to cater to all our travellers fancies the WKNDTRP has catergorised shops in to department stores, district stores, fashion outlets, interiors and many more. By sub filtering each you will be able to view shops for each category in the city. The map view will help with the location so you waste no time hunting down the various stores.
