HONG KONG | SIGHTSEEING If a single image could capture the beauty of Hong Kong, then Victoria Peak would have to be the place. Situated 554 meters above sea level, Victoria Peak is the highest point within Hong Kong and occupies the western part of the island. From its mind blowing panorama view you can see the whole city, from its incredible skyscrapers to its harbour and beyond the mountains in the north. Everything you heard about Hong Kong’s restlessness and energy is completely gone when you stand on top of this extraordinary mountain. All you can hear is the wind and the birds. It is completely silent.. accept maybe for the thousands of tourists that come here but the atmosphere even so is very much peaceful and calm. It is truly and amazing experience and a must while visiting Hong Kong. The best time to visit Victoria Peak is during the afternoon, best if you can capture it during a clear day as you can see the whole city and much more. OR you go here by night and see the city’s gleaming lights. A good tip is also to arrive half-hour before sundown and watch as the city lights come on in their varicoloured brilliance. You can reach the peak via the Peak Tram, the 120-year-old funicular railway that departs from its terminus on Garden Road (nearest MTR: Central). BERLIN | LUNCH When Tim Raue opened up the doors to his new restaurant, La Soupe Populaire, in the former venue of Bötzow Brewery on Prenzlauer Allee, people were super excited to come and see. Now La Soupe Populaire is one of the best restaurants in Berlin. La Soupe Populaire is known for its fantastic architecture and world class art but most of all for its Michelin star quality at an affordable price. The restaurant has built its base around best value for money dining. And boy is it amazing. For Tim it was really important to try to save the originality of the Brewery, which in a way almost feels like your dining in a smaller version of the Berghain. The industrial feel of the location is broken off in a cool way by the old school, random pieces of furniture and silver cutlery that were purchased from flee markets all over town but lets not forget to mention the key ingredients to this spectacular venue and that is the art collections and exhibition which is changed frequently. The menu was originally planned to solely evolve around the temporary art exhibition in the studio house but then the first menu, a reinvention of Berlin classics, was super popular and it was decided to keep it as a standard menu. So now there are two menus, the standard Berlin food and the temporary art menu. Right now the temporary art menu is Thai inspired based on the exhibition of famous photographer Andreas Gursky’s pictures of the Bangkok river. Which means that you right now can order Berliner Mustard Eggs as a starter and lobster tom kha khiau as a main, a pretty funky combo, but never the less a spectacular one. As La Soupe Populaire is extremely popular we recommend you to book a table prior to your travel.

AMSTERDAM | HOTEL It’s just something very special when a new hotel arrives in the package of a former 19th-century redbrick diamond factory. Not sure if it has to do with the diamond part or the fact that they have turned an old factory into a super cool luxury boutique hotel with a lot of sass and personality. Either way, Sir Albert has done it well. The sleek five-story hotel has 90 rooms and suites. Each room has a unique design element and carefully thought-out placing, creating the perfect balance of modern chicness with a lot of warmth. A good example of this is there sitting area called the Study on the ground floor, with shelves laden with books, cushy brown chairs and a slate floor softened by a Persian rug. The hotel is also full of incredible artwork. You really get a good sense of what this city is all about. Located in De Pijp, next to the Museum Square, in the centre of Amsterdam city and its famous canals, Sir Albert is the prefect place to stay for a long weekend as you have a lot of nice restaurants, bars, museums etc around the area. If you are feeling a bit tired but still want to enjoy a nice meal the hotel has an amazing Japanese restaurant called IZAKAYA, which serves great Asian food and spirits from all over the world. The service is extremely good and the staff is very helpful if there is anything you need. Sir Albert is without a doubt a true delight to stay in.

Located in the heart of Noho, the restaurant was opened in January 2012 by Jean-Marc Houmard and Huy Chi Le of Indochine, and Jon Neidich in the space formerly occupied by the long-time Cajun mainstay ACME. While completely revamping the space and concept, the owners decided to keep the name and the facade, as a nod to the history of the neighbourhood. In addition to 25 tables in the dining room, Acme has an eating bar and rail reserved for walk-in diners on a first-come, first-serve basis. This place is hip and definitively a must visit.

The hotels design is very much influenced by the area’s industrial past, which is seen in its concrete and brick facade, and the down-to-earth design of its Lo Lounge.
