The best autumn eats in New York City

As the summer sun fades into the crisp warmer fall season, we can’t help but think of the best ways to spend our time in the Big Apple. People come to New York city in the fall for the seasonal menus, the backyard roasts, harvest festivals, leaf-peeping day trips with packs of beer and of course Oktoberfest. The color palette of autumn is usually the burnt sienna, orange, reds and canary yellows and the soundtrack of your travel might as well be Ella Fitzgerald - Autumn in New York. Shoutout to those of you who are taking full advantage of the long weekends this fall and planning that weekend trip finally. New York fall menus are packed with masterful gastronomy, incredible refreshing wine and cocktail pairings using an extensive list of seasonal ingredients and fresh garden produce not to mention decadent pies where pumpkin is the star of the show. You’ll be getting a head start on your holiday pounds (but don’t let that stop you). Here are the best restaurants and bars in this favorite city you cannot miss this fall. Book them through the New York city guide in the WKNDTRP app.

The best fall restaurants in NYC

ABC kitchen

Ironically the inside of this eatery is so bright and cheerful you’ll believe it’s spring again. On second thoughts this may be a good thing considering the nippy weather incoming towards the latter part of the year. We’ll take all the warm weather we can get thank you very much. But jokes aside the antique furniture and farm-to-table fare is all such a vibe. Delicious homemade pasts plates welcome you on the menu and make you fall in love with autumn. And its not just the pasta. The sashimi is fresh catch of the day and suckling pig and Maine lobster on a bed of seasonal root veggies may be exactly what you’re craving.

Regency Bar & Grill at Lowe’s Regency New York

It’s Lowes Regency so the gourmet cuisine is part of its aesthetic all year round. The stylish restaurant that comes with this snazzy hotel stay is an experience so unique and special to New York city though. It’s unmissable and just as expected - glamorous and frilled in all the ways a 5 star stay is. Book for dinner or maybe even a high tea affair when you’re in NYC to get the full effect of their autumn menu. The autumn favorite would be the spiced duck breast garnished with pistachios, black barley and dried cherries. A flavorful plate ideal for cozy autumn vibes.

Momofuku Milk Bar

We love the autumn roasts, bakes and seasonal hotpots that get everyone excited about this leaf-peeping season but with the coming of the new harvest comes one gigantic big sweet tooth. It seems strange but some of us actually start craving more dessert right after summer and specifically the creamy kind! For your fall indulgence it’s best to pay a visit to the legendary Christina Tosi dessert shop in New York. Milk Bar is one of a kind, famous for its funfetti cakes and cereal-infused fluffy white birthday cake and icing filled with sprinkles. But its their famous pumpkin pie that get’s all the eyes this time of the year. Imagine delicious yummy layers of pumpkin ganache sitting on a creamy graham cracker cheesecake spiced and topped with candied pumpkin seeds.

Sunday in Brooklyn

Most say the malted pancakes with hazelnut maple praline and brown butter is a must-have when in Brooklyn. This cool restaurant has a relaxed personality to it that it makes you feel as though you could come back here again casually. But the atmosphere is still curated enough to impress in a modern sense. Overall the menu is highly enjoyable with their homemade focaccia and delicious mains and sides to try out. Not too hard on the wallet with dinner just under $60 and a bottle of house wine for just $39. Perfect for fall weather - sidewalk seating when its sunny and cozy ambience inside when it gets chillier.
